Piano duo project Kakinishi consists of Emi Nishida and Takumi Kakimoto, who are both award-winning pianists and composers, originally from Japan and currently based in Boston, MA. Their focus is on performing their unique original compositions that are fusions of their familiarity with different genres of music such as classical, jazz, and contemporary.
They have performed at various venues in Japan and the US, including Science Media Awards & Summit in the Hub at WGBH (Boston, MA), David Friend Recital Hall (Boston, MA), CIC Artweek by CIC and Japan Society of Boston (Cambridge, MA), Suzuki School of Newton (Waban, MA), Takagi Klavier Shoto Salon (Tokyo, Japan) and PuuTee Café (Himeji, Japan). In January 2019, one of their works “Ganymede, the Cupbearer” was selected and praised by Ryuichi Sakamoto, a musician and composer who has won numerous prestigious awards including Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe Award, and their performance was streamed in his radio program Radio Sakamoto on J-WAVE 81.3 FM.
